5 Ways High-Performance Plastics are Redefining Manufacturing

Acoustock combines architectural design flexibility with independently tested acoustic performance for commercial interiors.
The specifier’s challenge with acoustic panels has always been the same: find a product that performs to specification, passes the fire consultant’s review, satisfies the sustainability requirement and still gives the designer enough to work with.
Acoustock is Plastock’s own PET acoustic felt range, built to make that four-way requirement straightforward. Here is what the data says.
Acoustic Performance: NRC 0.80.
Acoustock 9mm achieves a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.80, independently tested to ISO 354:2003 by a third-party laboratory. The full octave band data is shown below.
| Octave Band | Absorption Coefficient α |
|---|---|
| 250 Hz | 0.80 |
| 500 Hz | 1.00 |
| 1000 Hz | 0.64 |
| 2000 Hz | 0.81 |
| NRC | 0.80 |
Average α across 100–5000 Hz is 0.78 — consistent broadband absorption across the full frequency range. Testing was carried out on a 1005 x 1005 x 9mm specimen at 1.9 kg/m² surface density, mounted on C50 furring with a 200mm air cavity.
NRC 0.80 places Acoustock above the 0.75 typically published for PET felt products in this category. For specifiers working to reverberation time targets — RT60 under BB93 for education, or WELL acoustic performance criteria for offices — the additional 0.05 NRC can make a material difference to coverage area calculations.

Acoustock achieves an independently tested NRC of 0.80, providing excellent sound absorption across the speech-frequency range.

Acoustock is certified to EN 13501-1:2018: B-s1,d0. The classification breaks down as follows:
B - Very limited contribution to fire. One classification below non-combustible (A1/A2).
s1 - Lowest smoke production class. Minimal smoke generated during fire exposure.
d0 - No flaming droplets or particles within 600 seconds of test.
The s1 smoke classification is the lowest available for a combustible product under EN 13501-1. It represents better smoke performance than the s2 classification carried by a number of products in this category - relevant to projects where smoke management is a design consideration and where fire consultants are reviewing product specifications in detail.
Acoustock is also certified to ASTM E84-2022 Class A (FSI 0, SDI 35) for projects requiring North American fire standards.
Full test documentation (document ACS·TDS·001, June 2026, standards ISO 354 and EN 13501) is available from Plastock on request.
Sustainability: E0, 50%+ Recycled, Zero Waste Manufacturing
Acoustock carries independently verified environmental credentials:
50%+ recycled PET content - post-consumer plastic bottles
E0 formaldehyde classification - Not Detected (AS/NZS 1859.2:2017)
100% polyester fibre - no binders, adhesives or solvents
Zero carbon - zero waste manufacturing initiative
Fully recyclable at end of life
Non-toxic, non-irritant, odourless in use.
The E0 result — Not Detected at the method detection limit of 0.2 mg/L — means that rather than merely meeting a threshold, Acoustock actively supports healthy indoor air quality . This is directly relevant to WELL Building Standard assessments and to education and healthcare specifications where indoor air quality is formally reviewed.
The 50%+ recycled content and zero waste manufacturing credentials support BREEAM, LEED and WELL material credits. Documentation is available to support specification approval.
Colour Range: 53 Stock Colours

Acoustock is available in 53 stock colours, all held in UK stock for rapid despatch
Acoustock is available in 53 stock colours — the broadest off-the-shelf acoustic felt range available in the UK. PET felt ranges from other suppliers typically offer 17 to 28 standard colours.
The range spans neutrals and greys, blues, greens, earth tones, pastels and brights — broad enough to complement or match virtually any commercial interior palette without compromise.
All 53 colours are held in UK stock for next-day despatch.
Sample panels are available at a modest charge per sample. The full 53-colour sample box is available for client presentations and design reviews.
Panel Format and Surface Density
Standard panel size is 8’ x 4’ (2440 x 1220mm approx) at 9mm thickness, 1.9 kg/m² surface density. Larger 10’4” panels and 12mm and 24mm thicknesses are in development. Cut-to-size is available via Plastock’s digital cutting service, typically within two weeks of sign-off.
