Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride
Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride
Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride, commonly known as uPVC or PVC-U, is a robust, chemically resistant, and cost-effective thermoplastic. Unlike standard PVC, uPVC contains no phthalates or plasticisers, resulting in a rigid material with high mechanical strength and excellent longevity.
Its inherent resistance to corrosion and UV degradation makes it a global standard for both industrial and domestic infrastructure.
Key Properties
Mechanical & Physical
- High Rigidity
Excellent structural integrity and dimensional stability due to the absence of plasticisers. - Cost Effective
Provides a high performance-to-cost ratio compared to materials like aluminium or copper. - Corrosion Resistance
Unlike metals, uPVC does not rust or pit, even in saline or damp environments. - Thermal Insulation
Low thermal conductivity helps maintain temperatures and reduce energy loss.
Chemical & Thermal
- Self-Extinguishing
Inherently flame retardan, it stops burning once the ignition source is removed. - UV Stability
Specifically formulated grades offer high resistance to sunlight, preventing brittleness. - Low Maintenance
Requires no painting or sealing, easily cleaned with water and mild detergent. - Chemical Resistance
Highly inert and resistant to most acids, alkalis, and inorganic solutions.
