Fluoropolymers are high performance materials with unique properties and limitless possibilities. Fluoropolymer tubing can meet severe environmental conditions and is ideal for use in many medical, food and drink, automotive, oil and gas, and other applications.
At Plastock we supply:
PTFE: Best performance for temperature, chemical resistance and non-stick properties but difficult to process.
FEP: Transparent and resistant to UV radiation. Easily welded and re-moulded with a lower working temperature than PTFE.
PFA: Easily welded and re-moulded with a very high temperature resistance and excellent crack and stress resistance.
Common characteristics of fluoropolymers include non-stick properties, very high working temperatures, resistance to chemical and solvents, very high electrical resistance and resistance to UV light and weather corrosion. They are also inert and non-toxic.
Virtually total chemical resistance at temperatures up to 260°C means PTFE, FEP and PFA can handle the transport of all fluid chemicals and solvents. The combination of low friction and temperature resistance allows them to be used in applications such as sleeve bearings, push-pull cables and non-stick roller covers. PTFE and FEP find many unique applications in electric and electronic engineering due to their excellent dielectric properties.
