Nylon 6.10 is a semi-crystalline material manufactured from over 60% renewable raw materials, in this case a naturally occurring chemical derivative of castor oil. It offers a alternative to using non-renewable resources such as oil.
The water absorption of Nylon 6.10 is lower than that of the oil-based Nylon 6 which results in increased dimensional stability, allowing the intact nylon structure to be maintained in wet conditions. Nylon 6.10 combines a low density (for polyamide) with a good cold impact strength. For a bio-based polymer it has a very high continuous usage temperature of 100°C and a good chemical resistance to organic solvents.
